By The Sea, Music Video, 2019 By The Sea is a collaboration and a short film for beccs’ single By The Sea. Written, directed, edited by beccs & Katelyn Kopenhaver, filmed by Katelyn Kopenhaver

Various Portraits during Covid in New York, 2020. New York had an eerie silence, and people wanted to talk. These are a collection of portraits from interviews while filming in 2020. Accompanying the portraits are “shoot back” images, where I hand the subject a disposable to shoot me back.

Within photography, Kopenhaver considers herself a blend between an anthropologist and a journalist - sometimes making photographs and sometimes seeing photographs. Portraiture especially holds a unique and special place because of the collaboration it entails of photographer, camera, and subject. She is unique in approach, vitally aware of the power structure embedded in the photographer / subject relationship. Kopenhaver ultimately attempts to capture the unspoken truths and genuine essence of whomever she is asked or seeks to photograph.
