WILL YOU BUY ME confronts the shift toward self-commodification in a post-modern, truth-variable culture. First activated guerrilla-style during Miami Art Week in 2022, the project placed me inside the art-fair ecosystem as a commodity. Standing passively with a QR code marked on my skin, I blended into walls, podiums and surrounding artworks, inviting viewers to scan, consume and discard me. The project unfolds through a series of evolving offerings, including Katelyn’s Advice, Katelyn’s Smile and Katelyn’s Debt, each resulting in a distinct outcome shaped by participation and exchange. WILL YOU BUY ME examines how personal identity is packaged for attention and profit, and how sex, vulnerability, imagery and polarization circulate as commodities, asking what is erased when visibility becomes currency and what it means to participate—briefly, willingly—in systems built to consume and discard.
